About
Ryan Palma — Bay Area, since 1989.
I grew up in Fremont, CA, and started taking photos as a kid — first with whatever was around, then with intent. For years I shot bands at local shows, not for money, just because I loved it and I had a camera that could see in the dark when no one else did.
In 2015 I worked at a photography studio shooting weddings, in-studio portraits, parties, and designing photo sets. That became a foundation. From there I moved into a recording studio with a huge creative space and kept shooting — musicians, artists, whoever was in the building.
Now I work independently. I shoot one client at a time and hand-edit every frame. Bay Area Shoots is the working name of that practice. I'm based in San Jose, but most of the work is made on location — in homes, lofts, rehearsal rooms, and the foggy corners of San Francisco where the light goes soft and honest.
The Practice
How I work.
01
One client at a time.
I don't double-book or rush sessions. Every shoot gets my full attention from the first message to the final delivery.
02
On location, always.
I work in the spaces that are real to you — homes, streets, rehearsal rooms, studios. Controlled environments are rarely where the good frames live.
03
Hand-edited, every frame.
Nothing goes through a bulk export. I look at every frame and edit the keepers individually. The difference shows.
04
Delivered within two weeks.
You'll have your private gallery within two weeks of the session. Rush delivery can sometimes be arranged — just ask.
